Richard Speedie Videography, Audio, and Song Production

Richard Speedie is a filmmaker, songwriter, musician, audio expert and content development specialist with over 18 years of experience in the production of large scale audio and video projects, as well as song writing, arrangement, musical production and creative filmmaking of educational videos.


Richard worked for years as the audio and video manager in Riverdeep and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. He provided the audio and music for both Destination Math and Destination Reading, and he worked on a number of subsequent large-scale video projects for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, becoming an expert on the advantages of video in educational technology. Richard also worked as a project manager, so he has keenly honed skills in workflows and processes, and he can work within short timeframes. Richard was the Head of Development for EMPGI in 2012, before forming his own company – QuicksmartAV – in January 2013. In addition to providing services for RISE through Highwood, Richard has worked with a number of major international clients, including HMH, Pearson, the Irish Health Service (HSE), AIB, Bord Bia, the Scottish Government, and Folens. He has been involved on products as diverse as science documentaries and grammar videos, and he has helped to develop eBooks, digital online interactive courseware, online games, IOS Apps, podcasts, and much more.


Richard has collaborated with Chris Stevens on the song writing and song production for rTunes, and he has done the video recording and post-production for all of the videos in both the rTunes and Jelly Phonics projects for RISE.
